Would I recommend this game to a more casual person who will use abilities and probably has no background in air movement like I do? Yes. It is frustrating and stupid more than anything and I had to unlearn everything I previously knew about air control to work with the awful controls. Would I recommend this game to someone who had interests similar to myself and would want to 100% the game if they played it? No. This is getting lengthy so let's wrap it up. Once I finished the game I went back and actually used the abilities to have some fun and probably will continue to do so from time to time in the future. They give interesting options for movement although some are vastly better than others and there are some silly combos.
Now here's the real surprise coming from an elitist like myself: I actually quite like the abilities. The last 3 worlds are a bit lacking and out of character but for the most part I enjoyed the music quite a bit. So did I like anything about the game? The music for the most part is great. Turning in the air is a nightmare and the sudden velocity increase when falling from any decent height results in you suddenly plummeting to the ground when you thought you might gracefully maneuver onto a truck. You run forward incredibly quickly, but side to side movement is almost nonexistent. If I make a mistake in TF2 or CSGO it is my fault. Much of my experience in air control comes from the Source Engine, which for all its faults has incredibly tight and crisp control in the air. The trucks wildly swerve about and throw themselves off cliffs, and almost all of the stage hazards and mechanics are also entirely RNG based so there is very little actual use of skill and the game devolves into a waiting game for the planets to align and for a run to even be possible to complete.ģ: The controls are weak and the physics are poor. (this is after all a game about going fast) In reality it is about going at whatever speed the game decides because going to fast will result in constantly running out of trucks to jump on making levels unbeatable.Ģ: The RNG is just painful. So why the negative review? To be quite frank, it comes down to a couple simple principles that I believe in when it comes down to design.ġ: Speed should be encouraged. So you would think this game was a perfect fit for me, and so did I until I played it. I consider myself pretty good at going fast and flying through the air as I've spent hundreds of hours rocketjumping and surfing in TF2 and CSGO. My first playthrough was pure meaning I beat every level without using any abilities and I chose to do this before I even knew there was an achievement for doing so. Let me start out by saying that I 100%'ed the game in 7.5 hours. Otherwise yeah this is a good game you should play it and jam to the music.
